Devina + Alvino
We had the best weather for this engagement session, not too hot and not too cold. Very nice autumn weather. Devina and Alvino are a very easy going and lovely couple. They work very well with me, Janice and Eric. The whole session was relaxing and creative. We went to some location that I have never shoot before, a tennis court and classroom. The day went by fast. I wish we had more time to shoot. Thanks to Janice for the makeup and Eric for the assistance. Also Devina and Alvino for being so relaxing.

Good weather, good location, good teamwork. We all enjoyed the day!

Christina + Frank
Edwards Garden is the most popular location for wedding photography, and it was here I shot Christina and Frank’s casual engagement session. Their friend Alvin and my colleague Gary both came to assist.
The weather was perfect and we got some nice scenery at the garden. The couple were a little tense, so I focused on the simple and classic—nothing complicated. Working on the photos, I made the colour tones reflected a more nostalgic feel.

This is a casual engagement photo shoot in the style of simplicity. Christina and Frank expressed the way they want to be.

Christine + Ian
Most of my engagement sessions are done on the weekend, so this was the first time I shot on a weekday after my day job. Christine and Ian are a very cute couple – so friendly and sweet. Most of the shots were done at Toronto subway stations and the MARS building. Because Christine and Ian loved to be creative, I was able to work more on the composition – a little out of the traditional style. So I made this set to be more romantic and passionate.

Thanks to Christine and Ian for giving me so much freedom to shoot my style. I am looking forward to shoot their wedding in 2010, which I already know will be fun!

Wing + Derek
I met with Wing and Derek six months ago to discuss their engagement shoot and we all left excited. We came up with a simple but unique concept involving a balloon. Also, this would be the first time I would shoot an engagement session outside the Toronto area.
We travelled to Oshawa Lakeview Park where there was a nice beach, lighthouse, and historical buildings. Wing and Derek are a fun couple, and that helped ease the shooting process. Also, having their friends Alvin and Joyce as assistants made for a loose and entertaining session.

This was a creative engagement photo session. The balloon works well with Wing and Derek.

Chalcey + Paul
Just one month before shooting their wedding, Chalcey and Paul did a special engagement photo session with me. Why should I say ’special’? That’s because Chalcey, Paul and I are all from the same high school in Toronto, but graduated from different years. We have never been in the same class together before. By fate, we all came together for this photo shoot.
The idea of these engagement photos was to go back to that familiar location that means something special to them. This is where they were dating, and of course also our high school at Jarvis Collegiate. What a special moment it was to shoot there; each of us has great memories at Jarvis, and we were able to share a comfortable dynamic. We also went to Casa Loma, Yorkville, High Park and Humber River.
Thanks to Janice for doing Chalcey’s makeup in the morning, even though she and Eric could not make it at the location.

This was a special and fun engagement session. Thanks Chalcey and Paul, for having trust in my vision.

Janice + Eric
One year ago, I was the photographer at Janice and Eric’s wedding. Now Janice became my makeup artist and Eric is my assistant. Since I recently got a film camera, I did my first roll of colour film with them. We went to Oakville Lakeshore to check out some shooting location there. I like the look of film, it has vintage feeling. Some turn out like movie stills.

Jenny :: angel
I’ve always wanted to shoot under the theme “Angel” to express a pure, innocent, and refreshing tone. When Jenny contacted me for the photo session, she sent some of her previous photos; I could see that she likes to pose with a fantasy element, or what we call ‘cosplay’. With her style and energy, I knew this would be a good match for the Angel theme.
Jenny met with myself, my makeup artist Janice, and my assistant Eric before the photo session. We discussed the location and shared ideas. As usual, I wanted to keep things simple, natural, and fresh. The weather was nice on the day of the shoot and we had a relaxed session. The images of Jenny came out inspirational and ‘angelic’.

Silian :: just be yourself
I love lifestyle portraits, and that’s the reason why Silian asked me to do a session for her. After seeing my portfolio, she knew that I was the type of portrait photographer she had been looking for: someone who would capture her personality, not just her face.
I decided not to set the shoot against trees and greenery as Silian’s energy is more fitted to an urban background. So we shot along streets, train stations, and the university campus for the portrait. It was fun to capture her natural essence this way.
Thanks to Janice and Eric – they are the best partners I’ve ever worked with. Janice always knows exactly what kind of makeup I want for my clients. And Eric, our assistant, helped us with transport and equipment management. We always make a great team.

Mara + Jamie
My photographer friend Kelvin Young from Michael T Photography asked me if I can be his second photographer at Mara and Jamie’s wedding. Without any hesitation, I accepted the job. The wedding was at the city of Caledon, it is about an hour from Toronto. It was the first time I ever shoot a wedding outside of Toronto.
Kelvin and I started the photo shoot at 1pm. The location is at a farm, there are not many building and houses surrounding it. It is an open area with a lot of trees and grass. The preparation, ceremony and the reception was all at this area. So it is a different kind of location from my other wedding shoots before. The weather was sunny, there were about 200 guests at the wedding. The wedding couple and the wedding party are very fun people.
It was a great experience to shoot with Kelvin. I know Kelvin for more than three years, I had shot an event with him before but never worked together for a wedding until now. Even though he is a Nikon guy and I am a Canon guy, we found a way to work as a team. He mainly focus on portrait, group and pose shots and I focus on candid and documentary style. We finished the shoot at 1am, it was a twelve hour shooting job. We were both tired but we had fun. Here are some of my shots from this wedding.

Tiffany :: happiness
Tiffany booked me to do a new portrait session with her. We went to Fork York Park in downtown Toronto for the shoot. The park doesn’t have many surrounding, it is a nice small place with trees and grass. The theme for this collection is “Happiness”. I concentrated on her expression first and gave her some direction on the emotion. The shooting didn’t take long, it was around an hour session. I am pretty happy with the result, it turns out very natural and refreshing.
